NORTH QUEENSLAND ZONE DROUGHTMASTER BREEDERS SOCIETY
13th ANNUAL DROUGHTMASTER

Limited
nominations for the 2018 FNQ Droughtmaster Female Sale in Malanda
were further reduced when a traffic accident blocked one of the main
access roads to Malanda for most of Saturday the 27th. The "Kanbrae"
Heifers were turned back as well as some potential buyers, making
for a challenged Sale. Luckily local buyers were keen to secure some
quality Droughtmasters which resulted in a successful day for all.
Top Price of the Sale came from the "Kel-lee A" Stud for
LOT 10 "Kel-lee A Just Class", which sold to Damien Small
of Upper Barron for $3250. Mr Small is a repeat buyer of the Williams
Family Cattle and went on to secure another 2 x registered Heifers
for $1800 and $1400 from Kel-Lee to create an average of $2150 for
the 3.
"Warrina" Droughtmasters from Ravenshoe presented 3 x registered
Cows & Calves and 3 X P.T.I.C. Cows to start the Sale. Cassie
Faithful of Minbun purchased 5 of the Warrina Females including LOT
2 "Warrina Waratah" with Bull Calf at foot for $2900 and
LOT 7 "Warrina Y Factor" for $2600. All up Warrina Females
averaged $2292.
Bill Krieg from Tarzali was the Bulk Buyer of the Sale and ended up
with 2 Reg. and 12 Commercial Heifers to average $886. Topping the
Commercial Section was a Cow & Calf from "Hideaway Downs"
selling to Trevor White & family from Mossman for $2000. Other
Vendors in the Commercial Heifers were "Dunmore" Stud (Ave.
$875) and "Araluen" Stud (Ave. $850). Steve Rockley from
"Dunmore" sold the Top Commercial Heifers for $900.
A small selection of Droughtmaster Steers were presented prior to
Landmarks "Open Auction".
Steers 12-14mths top $920 from "Dunmore"
Steers 10-12mths top $850 from "Kel-lee"
Steers 8-10mths top $70 0 from "Kel-lee"
Thanks to all Buyers, underbidders and Landmark Staff for valued support.
